The declared electricity supply in the United Kingdom and Austrilia is now, as a result of European Harmonization in 1995, 230V with a tolerance of +10% to -6%. This means that supply voltage can theoretically be anywhere between 216.2V and 253V depending on local conditions. However, the average voltage supplied from the national grid is 242V, compared to the nominal European voltage of 230V. The average supply voltage in Northern Ireland is around 239V, and 235V in the Republic of Ireland.
Chapter I Foreword
Introduction
The declared electricity supply in the United Kingdom and Austrilia is now, as a result of European Harmonization in 1995, 230V with a tolerance of +10% to -6%. This means that supply voltage can theoretically be anywhere between 216.2V and 253V depending on local conditions. However, the average voltage supplied from the national grid is 242V, compared to the nominal European voltage of 230V. The average supply voltage in Northern Ireland is around 239V, and 235V in the Republic of Ireland.

2. LCD display: display input and output voltage
3. Red button :Display screen on/off button (after the installation has been completed please ensure the screen is turned off and Explain to the tenant how to operate)
On/Off
1. With the optimiser wired correctly, the main isolator can be turned on to re-engergise the property
2. Isolating the main switch turns off the voltage optimisations and as a result loss of power to the property
Notes
Do not install more than one piece of optimizing equipment in your property
Under Voltage
The incoming supply will fluctuate constantly, if the voltage drops under the lower limit the voltage optimisation will automatically revert back to mains voltage.
Over Current
The voltage optimisation has a continuous rating off 55A; the transformer is rated to allow an over current for approximately 1 hour. After that time if the over current has not returned to its rated level the optimiserwill automatically revert to bypass.
Bypass Mode
This operation is automatically entered by the optimiser for reasons of protection. When in this state the supply voltage to the property will continue, However the voltage optimisation is currently not reducing the voltage at that time.
ChapterⅣ
Troubleshooting
Problem | Remedy |
The LCD display’s no voltage figures | Please contact us |
The output voltage is not being optimized when the input voltage is greater than 235V | check the switch is in the ON position, if not, please make sure the switch is on |
Other than the failure of the fault | Please contact us |

Chapter VI Installation Instructions
Electrical supply
We recommend the unit be used on properties with an incoming supply higher than 235V. The supply to your property must be fitted with a suitably rated isolator to allow the unit to be fitted.
Installation & Supply
Please read and understand these instructions before commencing with work.
Note; It is the responsibility of the electrician carrying out the work to ensure that the installation meets with the current version of bs7671 wiring regulations. During transit the unit will be subject to movement and vibration, these must be checked and re-tightened by the electrician carrying out the work. Failure to do so could result in failure of the unit and invalidate the products warranty.
1. Inspect the installation to confirm that is sound before any work is carried out. If any faults are present it is your legal obligation to notify the client of this.
2. Isolate the supply and prove it dead. If no isolator is fitted arrange for one to be fitted before commencing with any work.
3. Using the enclosed template mark and drill suitable mounting points at the desired location. Ensure that the unit is securely fixed.
4. Remove the incoming supply cable from the consumer unit. Find the best way to divert the cables to the terminals of the voltage optimisations.
5. Connect the incoming cables as per the chart below. The voltage optimisations needs to be earthed but we recommend that you do not remove any existing earth and instead out in a new one either from the M.E.T or the earth bar inside the consumer unit.
6. Connect the new cables to return the Line and Neutral to the consumer unit.
7. Check all connections for security and polarity
8. Carry out all tests for electrical safety in line with the current edition of BS7671
9. Carry out a voltage test at the furthest point from the consumer unit.
10. Record the serial number of your voltage optimisations and complete the warranty registration paper work
11. Issue minor works certificate of the installation
The voltage optimisations is designed to reduce the voltage of your home to a more efficient level. The MVO reduces your carbon footprint, saves energy and saves you money. Optimising the voltage of your home improves the performance of electrical items in your home.
The unit has a predefined range and this will be determined by your incoming supply. The MVO is housed in a rigid steel housing with a robust plastic cover. There are no user serviceable parts inside the enclosure
Chapter VII Integration with a Domestic Photovoltaic System
This is the typical configuration when the unit is to be installed alongside a domestic photovoltaic system
